There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Lot

So much has been going on in my classroom these last few weeks.  When I say SO MUCH, I mean it... We have been covering EVERYTHING.  We are just about done completing our Natural Resources unit.   We are writing about ourselves focusing on capital letters and proper punctuation, and we just finished SKIP COUNTING! WOO-HOO!  Did I ever tell you that I love this time of year?  I love this time of year because we are at the point where you really see the growth.  Their writing is longer, their minds are thinking, and they can truly make those *special* connections.

I've noticed their reading levels have greatly improved.  Well, my kiddies have been CHOOSING a lot of books lately, but something caught my eye.... They LOOOOOOOVVEE the "Old Lady" books.  They really get a kick out of seeing how hungry she is.  A lightbulb turned on in my head and that was how the next three units were created.

I quickly created:

Each book has its own theme: Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter.

I decided I wanted to create worksheets that would correlate with the story.  I wanted to include a splash of creative writing, a hint of differentiated instruction, a sprinkle of math, and a whole lot of fun!

If you would like to check out my units.
You can find them here

We are starting There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Rose next week and I think I am more excited then the firsties.... LOL....

Happy Teaching,

All about EARTH

Our precious earth.........The kiddies were SUPER excited  to learn about all the exciting things that happen on our Mother Earth. :)   Today, we discussed the different types of water and lands that make up earth.  We sang songs about mountains, plains, valleys, beaches, and hills.  We also talked about different bodies of water.  We took a vote on which kind of land we would want to visit.... The Winner was.................BEACHES!

You can try it in your classroom by clicking on the link below.

Happy Teaching!
